This work includes drawings and photo snap shots collaged into a painting.
The snap shots are in the Henri Cartier-Brisson tradition of quick shots which document a moment in time.
One can’t fully grasp the fact that billions of digital images are captured every day, especially in iconic places such as New York City. Artists must respond to their digital image library in a unique way.
With these images, I layer drawings and painted elements to respond to my emotion captured by the photo, which is both engaged yet, is as detached as the tourist experience. Contrasts in light and shadow, and shifting scale, and perspectives are what I convey in the final work.
